Chat
At xpertcreation.com/chat. Chat opens only between people who have agreed to something: an accepted connection, a blood request or a donation. Nobody can message you out of the blue.
Start a chat
Tap + New chat to see the people you are connected to, and tap a name to start. To chat with someone new, send them a request in XpertConnect first.
In a chat
- New messages arrive by themselves while the chat is open.
- One tick means sent; two blue ticks mean the other person has read it.
- You can see when the other person is typing.
- Tap the paper clip to send a photo (up to 2 MB, up to 20 a day).
- Tap the smiley for emoji and stickers. A sticker is sent as soon as you tap it.
Unread messages
A red number next to Chat in the menu shows unread messages. The home page shows your three most recent chats.
Block and report
Tap the three dots at the top of a chat. Block stops both of you from sending messages there; you can unblock later. Report sends the chat to our moderators.
Notifications on your phone
Open your account (the gear icon) and tap Turn on to get a notification on that phone or computer for new messages, connection requests, endorsements and pet reminders, even when the site is closed. Tap a notification to open the right page. You can turn them off there too. On an iPhone this works once the site is added to the Home Screen.
Clear, delete and disappearing messages
- Clear chat (three dots) removes the messages for you only; the other person keeps theirs.
- Delete chat removes it from your list. It comes back if the other person writes again.
- In the list, tap Select, pick several chats and tap Delete.
- Disappearing messages: choose 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. After that time messages, and their photos, are deleted for both people. A line in the chat shows who turned it on or off.
Groups
In Chat, tap + New group, give it a name and tick the connections you want. In the group, tap its name for group info: change the name or photo, add people, make admins, turn on "Only admins can send messages", or share an invite link. You can Mute, Report or Leave a group at any time.
Groups privacy (in Chat) decides who can add you straight into a group: Everyone, My connections, or Nobody. Anyone else can only send you an invitation, which you can accept or decline.
Pinned messages
Tap a message and choose Pin. Pinned messages show in a bar at the top of the chat; tap the bar to jump to them. Up to 3 can be pinned.
Group bot
Every group has a bot. It welcomes new members by name, blocks words the admins do not allow (with warnings and a short mute), stops flooding, and answers commands. Type !help in a group to see them: !date, !time, !weather, !prayer, !dns, !calc, !roll, !joke and more. Moderators and admins can also use !warn, !mute, !kick, !ban, !pin and !clear.
Admins set the bot up in group info, under Bot: its greeting, rules, blocked words, limits, timed messages and moderators, and they can read the bot log.
Voice messages
Tap the microphone next to Send, speak, then tap Send (or Cancel). A voice message can be up to 3 minutes. The first time, allow the microphone when your phone asks. Tap play to listen; tap the speed button for 1.5x or 2x.
